Tolerancing on 3D-model for better insights

Model-Based Definition (MBD) and PMI (Product Manufacturing Information) make specifications much easier to understand visually than traditional 2D drawings. In a 3D environment, you can see the tolerances directly linked to the correct geometry, making the designer's intention immediately clear.

With 2D drawings, designers, production, and quality control often have to “translate” which geometry corresponds to which specification. In practice, this leads to misinterpretations, errors, and unnecessary discussions. PMI eliminates that risk.

Thanks to MBD, the relationship between tolerances and geometry always remains correct and up to date, even as the design evolves. Functional requirements are therefore communicated more consistently throughout the entire design process. The result: fewer errors, fewer interpretations, faster turnaround times, and higher product quality.

Certainly, the ISO standards have expanded considerably in recent years, especially with regard to measurement. Each customer has its own specific applications.

The best way to understand GD&T is to link theory to practice. This will give participants a better feel for the subject.

The standard two-day training is intensive, with customer drawings as a common thread. To work more specifically, a follow-up day is recommended. This gives participants time to look for examples and let everything sink in.
